Native Ohio, California transplant. Two extreme cravings unavailable to the west coast are Elderberry Pie and Lake Erie Perch. Therefore, I order Lake Erie Perch EVERY time it is on a menu, with mixed results. I can state assertively that Bender's serves the absolute best, the pinnacle of this Lake Erie delicacy. Every filet is succulent, breaded as an accent so lightly to only percent the edges from drying out. My father had an equally delicious walleye. He'd been several times prior and had equally exemplary, fork-tender steaks, pork chops and chicken breast . We arrived without reservations, and enjoyed the beautiful leaded glass facade and the neighboring table of guests who ordered a flight of signature cocktails which my octogenarian father was disturbingly curious about. The sandstone steps in the entrance show nearly a century of wear for good reason. If you are anywhere near the NE quadrant of Ohio, you owe it to yourself and the persons you love to dine together here.

Bender's Tavern has been a staple in Canton Ohio for decades and there's a reason it's still here after all these years. The food and service are top notch and you won't be disappointed. Walking into this old tavern might take you back in time but the restaurant has a warm and comfortable feel. Separated into various rooms it's a comfortable place for a casual dinner, fancy dinner, date night or celebration. Reservations are highly recommended and various parking options are available so it's easy to dine here. There are two things that I always get and highly recommend on the menu. Bender's Tomatoes and Bender's Fries. These two side dishes are a must have with your dinner. Bender's Tomatoes include bleu cheese and a house dressing that is amazing. For the non-bleu cheese fans simply substitute feta cheese like I do. The Bender's Fries are really more like sliced and fried potatoes in a stick of butter. Not low calorie but definitely delicious! This time of year my favorite special on the menu is the Nantucket Bay Scallops. This dish is only available seasonally and the flavor and taste of these scallops is amazing. They will melt in your mouth like the butter on the Bender's Fries. Famous for steaks and seafood you won't be disappointed with whatever you order on the menu. There are several dessert options available but I haven't really tried them as I'm usually too full from my dinner. Make a reservation and enjoy Bender's Tavern.

First time there we went, went for a meeting for work. Food was good. The service was exceptional. Definitely recommend.

The food was very good! The steak was cooked to perfect. The service was very good and our waiter was tentative. The dining area has an amazing atmosphere that is very elegant. Will certainly be back.

Amazing staff who worked tirelessly all evening while I was there to accommodate their customers! Not to mention the food was awesome!!!

If you like seafood, this is a very traditional seafood place. It's the oldest restaurant in Canton, and it's worth the drive. The service was very friendly and efficient although the pacing was a little uneven, and the food was very good though pretty rich. The atmosphere is very eclectic. There were people dressed very casually in tees and jeans and others were dressed to the nines. It can be a bit confusing but it's a small criticism in an otherwise solid meal.

Cozy little tavern The oldest in Canton. So old that they used to seperate the Men's and Women's eating areas. The entrance is still marked for men only. Friendly service at the bar. I stopped in for a quick lunch. Amazing Turtle Soup!!!!! This is hard to find anywhere and even harder to find done well. It is served with a little side cup of Sherry which elevates the taste to the next level. Rich and savory broth. Highly recommend. I also had the Club Sandwich. Fresh tomato (tasted like garden grown) and tasty traditional fare. Specialty here is fresh seafood. I would like to come back and try that for dinner. Full bar

Who would think there is a decent seafood restaurant in the middle of the Midwest let alone in canton Ohio?! Close to the football hall of fame, this historic restaurant has been around before the hall of fame was and has more history than it! To say "she was watching us.." may sound creepy but the fact that the trained wait staff was timing our meal to perfection knowing when to put our order in or wait till we were half way through our appetizers! Who does THAT??? Old school service with excellent food and wine selections makes this a no brainer to put on your itinerary anytime you are in town!

Very good dinner with family. We met to visit the Football Hall of Fame. The hotel recommend this place and it did not disappoint. First off Sean was the best waiter anyone could have. He explained all the specials, menu and drink list. The food was great! We had the Chilean Bass, stuff mushroom, stuff flounder and the perch!
